At least 13 people were killed and 10 others injured after a Russian jet-powered drone struck two trains at a railway station in Ukraine’s central Dnipro region on Thursday, officials said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the incident as a “horrific attack” on passenger trains. According to state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia, the drone hit a platform where a commuter train was preparing to depart for the nearby southern city of Zaporizhzhia.

Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha also reported additional casualties, saying at least five more people had been wounded.

Following the attack, Zelenskyy called for international action against Russia. In a post on X, he questioned whether the easing of sanctions on certain Russian oligarchs and the Russian energy sector had encouraged further attacks, arguing that Moscow should be pressured to de-escalate the conflict.
