Indian opener Rohit Sharma has become the oldest Indian batter to claim the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings, achieving the milestone at the age of 38.
Rohit climbed two places to the top after scoring an unbeaten century in the third and final ODI against Australia in Sydney, where India secured a nine-wicket win. He smashed 13 fours and three sixes in his 33rd ODI hundred, sharing an unbroken stand with Virat Kohli, who remained not out on 74.
The right-hander displaced Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and teammate Shubman Gill to reach the top spot for the first time in his career. Ibrahim had briefly held the No. 1 position between the second and third ODIs of the series.
Spinner Axar Patel also made gains, climbing six places to 31st in the ODI bowling rankings and four spots to eighth among all-rounders, just behind New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner.
Additionally, Santner went up three places to fourth among ODI bowlers, while Australia’s Josh Hazlewood advanced two positions to eighth. England’s Harry Brook jumped 23 spots to 25th in the batting rankings.
In Tests, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj moved up nine places to a career-best 13th after taking nine wickets in the Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan. Teammate Simon Harmer climbed 26 spots to 45th, while Aiden Markram rose to 15th in the batting list.
Pakistan captain Shan Masood gained five positions to joint 42nd among batters after the same match.
In the T20I rankings, South Africa’s Corbin Bosch surged 40 spots to 53rd among bowlers, while Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz moved up eight places to sixth among all-rounders. Opener Saim Ayub gained five spots to 49th in the batting rankings.
