Rahul Gandhi meets Assam Congress leaders to discuss poll strategy
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi held a key meeting on Friday with leaders from the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) to chalk out the party’s strategy ahead of the state assembly elections scheduled for next year.
This marks the first formal interaction between the central leadership and the Assam Congress unit following the recent organisational changes that saw Gaurav Gogoi appointed as the new state party president.
The meeting took place at the party’s newly inaugurated headquarters, Indira Bhawan, and was attended by AICC general secretary K C Venugopal and Jitendra Singh, the AICC general secretary in charge of Assam.
Sharing photos from the meeting on Facebook, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Today, under the leadership of Hon’ble President Mallikarjun Kharge ji, met and interacted with the newly formed Assam Pradesh Congress Committee members at Congress Headquarters Indira Bhawan.”
The discussion is seen as a crucial step in energising the party’s state unit and setting the groundwork for a robust electoral campaign.
