In a high-level review meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary of Assam, preparations for the prestigious Srimanta Sankardeva Award 2023 were thoroughly discussed. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 12, 2025, at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati, with the Honourable President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attending as the chief guest.
The meeting, attended by officials from the Cultural Affairs Department and other stakeholder departments, emphasized the importance of seamless coordination among all committees to ensure the event reflects the rich legacy of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva. Discussions included a minute-to-minute breakdown of the programme, detailed planning of seating arrangements, dais structure, roles of committee members, the invitee list, transportation, accommodation, and all logistical requirements.
In addition to the award preparations, the meeting also reviewed arrangements for the large-scale plantation drive under “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam 2.0.” The initiative, led by the Education Department, aims to plant nearly 31 lakh saplings across educational institutions throughout the state.
The campaign will launch on June 5, 2025—World Environment Day—and continue till June 30. It will be integrated with key national programmes including MGNREGA, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Swachh Bharat Mission, and the National Green Highways Mission, promoting environmental consciousness and sustainability across Assam.
