Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been adjourned till 2:00 PM amid sloganeering by the opposition members over various issues. When the Lok Sabha met after the first adjournment at noon, the opposition members again started sloganeering, demanding discussion on Operation Sindoor and Special Intensive Revision in Bihar and other issues. They trooped into the well shouting slogans over their demands. BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, who was on the chair, appealed to the opposition MPs to allow the House to function, but the opposition members did not pay heed to the request. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwa, also requested the opposition to cooperate in the smooth transaction of the business. He said the government is ready to discuss every issue under the rules. The Chair also said that the government is ready to allow discussion on Operation Sindoor, for which 16 hours have been allocated for the debate as decided during the Business Advisory Committee meeting. Amidst din, the Chair adjourned the House till 2:00 PM.
Earlier, when the Lok Sabha assembled at 11 AM, the Opposition MPs created a ruckus in the House. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla appealed to the opposition to allow Question Hour as the questions are related to Agriculture and farmers. Union Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also requested the protesting members to cooperate in the smooth conduct of the business, as most of the questions are related to farmers’ concerns.
The Rajya Sabha also witnessed disruption due to the opposition’s protest on various issues. When the House met after the first adjournment at noon, the Opposition members again pressed for discussion on the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll in Bihar. BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, who was on the Chair, tried to take up Question Hour, but it was not transacted due to the opposition’s protest. Meanwhile, the Chair also conveyed to the House regarding the Home Ministry notification about the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Later, the House was adjourned till 2:00 PM.
