Long distance bus owners and staff of Kokrajhar at loss

Guwahati, August 19 (NKTV): Long distance passenger bus owners and staff in Kokrajhar have expressed dejection for not allowing buses to run, in the recent Covid SOP issued for Assam.

It may be mentioned here that bus services are on hold since three months because of the pandemic situation. The Government of Assam had recently issued the new SOP for the state; however, inter district public transport has been put on hold.

“We are facing severe financial hardships because of the ongoing situation. Even the new SOP came as a harsh blow. We have no any alternative way to lead life” said drivers and staff members residing in Kokrajhar.

Owner of Gun Gun Bus Service of Kokrajhar Sanjay Aich said “My family has been largely affected because of Covid-19 and then the SOP. I am not being able to provide salaries to my staff members”. He urged the Government of Assam to reopen inter strict passenger transport as the livelihood of hundreds of families depend on it.
