LeT Top Commander Killed in Budgam Encounter, Kashmir Operation Continues

A top commander of the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed in an encounter with security forces in the upper reaches of Budgam district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday evening.

The Army’s Chinar Corps has not officially released the identity of the slain terrorist. However, officials identified him as Suleiman Shah alias Musa, a wanted LeT terrorist operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a social media post by the Chinar Corps, the encounter took place near Yousmarg, where the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF launched Operation Koraag.

The operation was still underway at the time of reporting.

According to reports, Suleiman Shah was wanted in connection with several terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. He had reportedly escaped during an encounter in the Yousmarg mountains on September 5, while his close associate Yasir was killed in that operation.

Authorities are continuing search and security operations in the area
