Khelo India Rising Talent Identification (KIRTI) Athletics Assessment at SAI Guwahati
Under the ongoing KIRTI sports talent assessment programme at SAI Guwahati, Athletics assessment has been conducted on 30th March. Approximately 300 school students from different schools of Guwahati participated in the selection assessment.
The students underwent a battery of ten physical fitness tests designed to assess their physical attributes. Following these tests, students participated in event – specific assessment trials of 100 Metre, 600 metre, shotput, high jump, long jump, and throwball.
Till now approximately 500 school students have taken the assessment in Boxing, Kho Kho, Archery, and Athletics.
Tomorrow football assessment will be conducted in similar manner. In future, KIRTI assessment drive will be organised in all SAI Centres of Assam. It is expected that the KIRTI will pave the way for tapping the untapped latent sporting talent at grassroot level in a decentralized manner.
KIRTI aims to create a large pool of feeder athletes who will represent India in International Sporting events and be put on the ‘path to fame’ i.e. KIRTI.
