Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday reaffirmed India’s unwavering connection with the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), calling them an integral part of the Indian family. Addressing the CII Business Summit, Singh expressed confidence that PoK residents would one day voluntarily rejoin India’s mainstream, guided by a shared heritage and emotional bond.
“Our brothers and sisters in PoK are not outsiders—they are part of our family,” Singh said. “We are confident that the voice of their conscience will eventually lead them back to India.”
He emphasized that India’s approach towards Pakistan has been reoriented to focus strictly on issues of terrorism and PoK. “We have redefined our response to terrorism, and any dialogue with Islamabad will now be limited to discussions on terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir,” Singh declared.
Highlighting India’s tradition of peace and unity, he added, “India believes in winning hearts. Through love, unity, and truth, we will welcome back our own people when they say, ‘I am India, I have returned.’”
The Defence Minister also noted that while some in PoK have been misled, a majority still feel a strong cultural and emotional bond with India.
