Heavy rain likely to lash Assam and Meghalaya from 25th May

The Indian Meteorological department have warned that heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to lash northeastern states of Assam and Meghalaya from 25th May. The IMD have also given red alert to the state of Odisha as a cyclonic storm likely to develop over the north Andaman Sea and the east-central Bay of Bengal which will let to heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Assam and West Bengal.

Earlier, cyclone Tauktae had initiated heavy damages in Gujarat and Maharasthra. Around seven people died in Gujarat as Cyclone Tauktae created havoc and chaos in the state. According to reports, at least 16,000 house were gutted in the cyclone while over 30,000 trees and around 1,000 electric poles were uprooted due the gusty winds of the Cyclone Tauktae.
