86

India is expected to host New Zealand for an eight-match white-ball series in January 2026, comprising three ODIs and five T20Is. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shortlisted Jaipur, Mohali, Indore, Rajkot, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, and Nagpur as potential host cities for the matches, with a few additional centres also under consideration.

This series will wrap up a packed home calendar, which includes two Test matches against the West Indies in October (in Ahmedabad and New Delhi), and a full home series against South Africa in November-December. The South Africa tour will feature two Tests (Kolkata and Guwahati), three ODIs (Ranchi, Raipur, Vizag), and four T20Is (Cuttack, New Chandigarh, Dharamsala, Lucknow).

Between the West Indies and South Africa series, India will also embark on a white-ball tour to Australia from October 19 to November 8, playing three ODIs and five T20Is.

The final itinerary for the India-New Zealand series will be confirmed during the BCCI Apex Council meeting scheduled for Saturday at 4 PM, to be held online. The council will also discuss guidelines for IPL victory celebrations, a revised age-verification process, and the upcoming domestic season’s cricket calendar.

This white-ball face-off against New Zealand will serve as crucial preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup, set for February-March 2026, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The Indian Premier League (IPL) will follow the ICC event, with India entering as defending T20 champions.
