Guwahati registered a commanding 45-run victory over Rangia in a Group B encounter of the 3rd Pulin Das U-14 Inter District Cricket Tournament 2025-26, held at the ACA Cricket Academy Ground in Fulung, North Guwahati on Friday.
Organised by the ACA Cricket Academy under the aegis of the Assam Cricket Association, the match witnessed an impressive all-round performance from the Guwahati side, who dominated both with the bat and ball.
After winning the toss, Guwahati elected to bat first and posted a competitive total of 218 for 6 in their allotted 40 overs. The innings was anchored by a patient knock from Rakesh Deka, who scored a well-crafted 58 off 102 deliveries, including four boundaries. He held the innings together and provided stability at the top.
Dishant Diban Das contributed a steady 39 runs off 53 balls, striking five boundaries, while Dhritiman Kumar provided a late flourish with a quickfire 30 off just 16 balls, smashing one six and three fours. Priyojit Choudhury also chipped in with a valuable 25 off 20 deliveries, hitting three fours to boost the team’s total in the closing stages.
For Rangia, Niyar Deka was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets for 26 runs in his spell. Eshan Ahmed and Pritam Chakraborty picked up a wicket each but were unable to contain the Guwahati batters effectively.
Chasing 219 for victory, Rangia put up a fighting effort but eventually fell short, finishing at 173 for 4 in their 40 overs. Anurag Bhattacharjya led the charge with a brilliant 78 off 93 balls, laced with 11 boundaries. He was well supported by Kairav Mittal, who scored 42 runs off 77 deliveries, including four boundaries.
Despite their efforts, the required run rate kept climbing, and Rangia struggled to accelerate in the latter stages of the innings.
Guwahati bowlers maintained disciplined lines throughout the innings. Neerav Jain, Dhritiman Kumar, Tanveer Islam, and Hriday Jyoti Kashyap picked up one wicket each, ensuring Rangia never gained full momentum in the chase.
With this comprehensive performance, Guwahati secured a well-deserved 45-run victory, strengthening their position in Group B of the tournament.
The match highlighted the promising talent emerging at the grassroots level, with several young players delivering notable performances in a competitive contest.
