The Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) Qualifying Round Cricket League 2024–25 witnessed two exciting matches at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati, where Frontier Club and Navajyoti Club registered impressive victories.
In the day’s first encounter, Frontier Club defeated Dynamo Club by four wickets in a thrilling contest. Batting first, Dynamo Club managed 100/9 in 20 overs, with Mantu Rajak scoring 42 off 51 balls and Binoy Kalita adding a valuable 30 off 29 balls. For Frontier Club, Akash Chakraborty (2/14) and Suraj Kalita (2/20) bowled with accuracy to contain the opposition.
Chasing the target, Frontier Club reached 104/6 in 16.5 overs, thanks to solid contributions from Ashwini Gautam (30 off 27 balls) and Utpal Baruah (26 off 41 balls). Despite a fine bowling effort by Dynamo’s Sambhu Jha, who claimed 3/12, Frontier held their nerve to secure the win.
In the second match of the day, Navajyoti Club outclassed Icon Sports Club by 111 runs in a one-sided affair. Electing to bat first, Navajyoti Club piled up 154/9 in 20 overs, led by Dharani Dhar Rabha’s fluent 36 off 34 balls, followed by handy knocks from Amit T. Boro (23 off 19) and Manok Kr. Goswami (21 off 11*).
In reply, Icon Sports Club collapsed under relentless bowling pressure, being bowled out for 43 in 11.5 overs. Kan Urang delivered a match-winning spell of 5 for 3 in 3 overs, while Hrishikesh Tamuli supported well with 3 for 8 in 2.5 overs.
With these results, Frontier Club and Navajyoti Club strengthened their standings in the ongoing GSA Qualifying Round Cricket League.
