Jaishankar Arrives in Atlanta for G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Quad Talks on Agenda.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Atlanta, United States, on Friday to attend the two-day G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting from October 30 to 31, with discussions expected to focus on energy security, global supply chains and maritime security.

The meeting, hosted by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, comes amid growing concerns over geopolitical tensions in West Asia and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, which have affected global energy security and raised concerns over India’s oil, LNG and fertiliser imports.

Jaishankar will also participate in a Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on the sidelines, alongside his counterparts from the United States, Japan and Australia. Discussions are expected to cover regional security, freedom of navigation and strengthening economic cooperation.

The US has emphasised the need to keep critical sea lanes open for international trade without unlawful fees or restrictions, highlighting their importance for energy, fertiliser and food supplies.

Following the Atlanta meetings, Jaishankar is scheduled to travel to Antigua and Barbuda to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting from November 1 to 4.
