Davos 2026: World leaders convene to address global challenges
World leaders from government, business, academia and civil society gathered in Davos on Monday for the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting to discuss global issues and set collective priorities.
The WEF, scheduled from January 19-23, will focus on five key global challenges where cooperation between public and private sectors, alongside engagement from all stakeholders, is considered essential for meaningful progress. Growth, resilience and innovation are expected to guide discussions across these issues.
India is set to make a strong showing at Davos, with Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and over 100 top corporate CEOs attending the Swiss Alpine gathering. The country, which continues to hold its position as the fastest-growing major economy, will use the platform to pitch investment opportunities to global investors.
Union Ministers attending include Ashwini Vaishnaw (Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics and IT), Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare), Pralhad Joshi (Renewable Energy) and K. Rammohan Naidu (Civil Aviation). Chief Ministers representing their states include Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), N. Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh), A. Revanth Reddy (Telangana), Mohan Yadav (Madhya Pradesh), Hemant Soren (Jharkhand) and Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam).
The Forum, themed ‘Spirit of Dialogue’ this year, comes amid global economic uncertainties fueled by US tariff policies and rising geopolitical tensions. Leading figures in artificial intelligence, including Jensen Huang, Satya Nadella, Demis Hassabis and Dario Amodei, are also set to participate in discussions.
