The inaugural session witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries who shared their insights on the evolving role of pharmaceutical sciences in public health and national development. The Chief Guest, Dr. Montu Kumar M. Patel, President of the Pharmacy Council of India, emphasized the need for stronger academic–industry partnerships and innovation-driven education to meet the challenges of modern healthcare.

Dr. Patel further highlighted the constitution of a new ERP Committee aimed at strengthening digital systems in pharmacy education, enabling faster reporting, improved transparency, and more efficient academic management across institutions. In an important development, he announced that medical device education will also be introduced at the M.Pharm level, reflecting the growing importance of device technologies in modern healthcare. He also spoke about initiatives to develop new device technology systems and to align pharmacy education more closely with the global list of essential medicines and international healthcare standards. Addressing regulatory and professional standards, Dr. Patel stressed the importance of ethical practices and authenticity in the issuance of wholesale medicine licenses, noting that maintaining integrity in pharmaceutical supply chains is essential for patient safety. He also mentioned the expansion of opportunities in clinical pharmacy roles, which are expected to create new professional avenues for pharmacists within hospitals and healthcare institutions. In order to simplify regulatory and academic processes, Dr. Patel announced that the Pharmacy Council of India is planning to introduce a single-window system for institutional processes and approvals, which will streamline operations for pharmacy colleges across the country. Highlighting support for academic institutions, he further shared that financial assistance of up to ₹1 crore will be made available for the development of infrastructure and information technology facilities in pharmacy education institutions, helping them upgrade laboratories, digital platforms, and research capabilities.
