Assam down town University successfully concluded a three-day intensive Bihu Workshop at its campus, reaffirming its commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Assam.

The workshop was organized through a collaborative effort between the Music Club and the Programme of Performing Arts under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, engaging students with a passion for traditional Assamese folk culture.
The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Deepjyoti Teron, Assistant Professor of Performing Arts, who introduced the resource person, eminent folk artist Mr. Randhree Raj Saikia. The inaugural session emphasized the importance of integrating traditional art forms into academic spaces to sustain cultural legacy. The event was attended by Mr. Utpal Dutta, Professor of Practice, Performing Arts, and Dr. Radali Duarah, Chairperson of the Dorian Music Club.

Over the three days, participants explored the historical and vocal traditions of Bihu Geet, practiced Bihu dance movements and Dhol Badan rhythms, and prepared for a final showcase. The workshop culminated in a vibrant live performance at the K Block, where participants demonstrated their learning before an enthusiastic audience.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates, marking yet another milestone in the university’s efforts to nurture cultural education and celebrate the vibrant traditions of Assam.
