A high-level team led by Power Minister Bimal Bora to visit Gujarat to witness innovations in Gujarat’s power sector
In a bid to infuse qualitative development along with empowering the power companies viz. APDCL, APGCL, AEGCL economically, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma held a video conference with the Energy Minister Gujarat Saurabh Bhai Patel and senior officers of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited in his office in Janata Bhawan today.
During the conference, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited gave a power point presentation encompassing all the best practices adopted by the agency for a power surplus Gujarat. The Energy Minister Gujarat Saurabh Bhai Patel during the conference gave a brief overview of the power sector of his state and a series of initiatives that the Urja Vikas Nigam Limited has been taking since the time of Narendra Modi as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and how these initiatives made a turnaround for qualitative development of Gujarat’s power sector. He also requested Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to send a delegation from Assam to Gujarat to witness the innovative and progressive steps taken for the development of energy sector in Assam.
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma during the conference thanked the Power Department, Gujarat for having extended the cooperation for organising the conference and sharing their expertise in transforming the power companies into profit making ventures. He further said that in spite of steps taken so far, the power companies in Assam could not turn themselves into profitable ventures. Therefore, steps have been undertaken to share the expertise of an energy rich state in the country to help the three power companies in the state to turn themselves into profit making companies.
He also said that to replicate the success stories of the power sector of Gujarat propelled by its state-of-the-art technological interventions, a team led by Power Minister Bimal Bora would go to Gujarat.
Power Minister Bimal Bora, Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Samir Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary to Power Neeraj Verma, MD, APDC Rakesh Kumar, MD, Gujarat Energy Development Agency and other senior officers were present during the conference.
