Assam flood situation improving, 1.18 lakh people presently affected

Guwahati, September 6 (NKTV): As reported by the ASDMA, the flood situation in Assam improved on Sunday as the number of people affected by flood across the state came down to 1,18,394.

The affected districts are Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Goalpara, Golaghat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sonitpur and South Salmara.

At present, 646 villages are under water, the ASDMA bulletin stated.

Authorities are running 24 relief camps and relief distribution centres in nine districts, where 2,333 people, including 439 children, have taken shelter.
