Assam down town University successfully hosted the IndiaSkills Northeast Regional Competition 2026, a prestigious vocational skills championship organized by the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) under the flagship IndiaSkills initiative at the Hospitality Lab, Discipline of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management.
As part of the national IndiaSkills framework India’s premier skill competition designed to identify, nurture, and benchmark young talent in diverse trades the Northeast Regional round (held from 19–21 January 2026) spotlighted excellence in tourism and hospitality skills, including Cooking, Bakery, Patisserie & Confectionery, Hotel Reception, and Restaurant Service.

Participants from across the northeastern states demonstrated exceptional proficiency, creativity, and professionalism through rigorous practical and technical challenges. The competition featured immersive simulations such as check-in and check-out scenarios, table laying, napkin folding, salad and soup service, fruit and gâteau carving, flambé techniques, wine decanting, and full dinner service, as well as specialized bakery and confectionery tasks that reflect industry standards.
The event celebrates the spirit of skill, precision, and innovation, reinforcing Assam down town University’s ongoing commitment to fostering industry-ready professionals equipped to meet evolving global hospitality demands.
