Assam Declares Holiday on Sept 23 for Zubeen Garg’s State Funeral
In view of the State Funeral of late Zubeen Garg, the eminent singer, filmmaker, and cultural icon, the Government of Assam has declared a holiday on September 23, 2025.
According to an official notification, all educational institutions across the state, including universities, will remain closed for the day. In addition, all state government offices within Kamrup (Metro) district will also remain closed on September 23.
The state funeral of Zubeen Garg will be held at Kamarkuchi, Sonapur in Kamrup (Metro) district in the forenoon. The decision has been taken in larger public interest to allow people to pay their last respects to the legendary artist.
