Assam Clinches Title in 2nd North East Rising Cup 2025 (U-15 Girls) against Tripura
Assam emerged victorious in the final of the 2nd North East Rising Cup 2026 (Under-15 Girls), defeating Tripura by 11 runs by VJD method at the Judges’ Field, Guwahati on Sunday. The tournament, hosted by the Assam Cricket Association with the support of all the Northeast Cricket Associations as part of its continued commitment to promote and strengthen women’s cricket in the Northeast region, concluded successfully.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Assam posted a competitive total of 177 all out in 34.5 overs. For Assam, Ankita Chetri top-scored with 40 off 39 balls, followed by Aradhya Dutta (37 off 51 balls) and Murshana Baruah (22 off 24 balls). Tripura’s bowlers put up a disciplined performance, with Diya Sarkar returning figures of 2/39, while Purba Chowdhury (1/23) and Riddhi Nama (1/29) provided crucial breakthroughs.
In response, Tripura were 51/2 in 15 overs, with Sayantika Sutradhar scoring 24 off 48 balls and Christina Rema adding 14 off 20 balls. Nousin Afra Anjum picked up 1/27 for Assam. However, rain interrupted play, and no further action was possible. As per the VJD method, the target for Tripura was 63 in 15 overs, resulting in Assam winning the match by 11 runs.
The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary, BCCI, as the Chief Guest and Mr. MKJ Majumdar, Member, IPL Governing Council & Convener, North East Rising Cup as Guest of Honour.
Among others present on the occasion were, Assam Cricket Association Secretary, Sanatan Das, ACA Vice President, Romen Dutta, ACA Joint Secretary, Shri Rajendra Singh, Apex Council Member, Mukutananda Bhattacharjya.
The event was also graced by Tripura CA Secretary Lairenjam Geetranjan Singh, Meghalaya CA Secretary Rayonald Kharkamni, Manipur CA, Secretary Lairenjam Geetranjan Singh.
IPL Governing Council & Convener, North East Rising Cup Shri MKJ Majumdar expressed his sincere gratitude to BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia for his vision and support in conceptualizing the North East Rising Cup. He remarked that such initiatives are instrumental in creating a robust pathway for talent identification and development in the Northeast region.
Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), stated that the Board continues to prioritize the growth of women’s cricket and is dedicated to building a strong foundation across all regions of the country. He emphasized that initiatives like the North East Rising Cup play a crucial role in offering young cricketers structured opportunities and valuable competitive exposure.
He also extended his congratulations to both Assam and Tripura for their commendable performances, and expressed his appreciation to all teams for their enthusiastic participation and contribution to the success of the tournament.
