All Assam Employees’ Council Submits Memorandum to Chief Minister Demanding Implementation of Old Pension Scheme
The All Assam Employees’ Council has raised a demand for bringing state government employees under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). In this regard, the council submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on Saturday.
In the memorandum, the council urged the government to bring all employees whose recruitment process had commenced before January 2005 under the Old Pension Scheme. According to the council, several employees appointed to government service in 2005 are still deprived of the benefits of the old pension system.
The council also pointed out that the Chief Minister had announced that employees who joined government service after January 2005 would also be brought under the Old Pension Scheme.
In particular, the council has demanded the early implementation of the announcement made by the Chief Minister in his 2025 Budget Speech.
The All Assam Employees’ Council has appealed to the government to translate the announcement into action and ensure justice for employees deprived of the Old Pension Scheme.
The council expressed hope that the government would take prompt steps to address the demand, keeping in view the post-retirement financial security of government employees.
