AASU President Utpal Sarma Welcomes Rejection of Shyamkanu Mahanta’s Bail Plea

Reacting strongly to the rejection of bail for accused Shyamkanu Mahanta in the Zubeen Garg murder case, All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) President Utpal Sarma expressed relief on behalf of the Assamese community.

Sarma stated, “The Assamese community has finally breathed a sigh of relief after the bail application of Shyamkanu Mahanta was rejected.”

He further said that the entire society wants the harshest possible punishment for those involved in the brutal murder of Zubeen Garg. “Everyone wants the judicial process to be fast-tracked so that the guilty receive strict punishment at the earliest,” he added.

Describing the verdict as long-awaited justice, Utpal Sarma remarked, “This is justice for the lakhs of fans who have been carrying a heavy pain in their hearts since Zubeen Garg’s demise. This is justice for Zubeen Garg’s family.”

He emphasised that until the culprits are punished by the court, the responsibility of the government and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is not over.

The AASU President’s strong reaction reflects the widespread public sentiment demanding swift and complete justice in the high-profile Zubeen Garg murder case.
