Even a month after the untimely demise of cultural icon Zubeen Garg, the people of Assam continue to mourn, united in grief and seeking clarity on the singer’s final moments.
Garg tragically passed away on September 19, 2025, while swimming in the sea in Singapore. His death sent shockwaves across the region, leaving behind an irreplaceable void in Assam’s cultural and musical landscape.
His wife, Garima Saikia Garg, expressed that the family, along with millions of fans, is still waiting to understand what truly happened that day. She reiterated her faith in the legal process and hoped that the ongoing investigations would bring the truth to light.
Since the fateful Sunday morning, hundreds of admirers have continued to visit Garg’s cremation site at Sonapur, on the outskirts of Guwahati, to pay their respects. Fans and well-wishers also gathered at his residence in Kahilipara and his studio on Zoo Road, remembering the man whose music touched countless lives.
A 10-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the Assam Police’s CID is probing the case, with seven arrests made so far. The Singapore Police is conducting a parallel investigation, and SIT officials from Assam are expected to travel to Singapore soon as part of their inquiry.
To mark the solemn occasion, Garg’s family organized Vedic rituals at his studio, attended by his father, wife, sister, and close relatives, as they prayed for his eternal peace and remembered the enduring legacy of Assam’s beloved son.
