Residents Raise Complaints Against Akshaya Patra Foundation in North Guwahati, Foul Smell Leaves Locals Distressed

20

Residents have raised serious concerns against the Akshaya Patra Foundation located opposite GNRC Hospital in North Guwahati. Locals have alleged that foul smells emanating from the food waste generated by the institution are polluting the surrounding environment and causing considerable inconvenience to people in the area.

According to local residents, the institution, which prepares meals for schoolchildren, has allegedly been disposing of food waste into roadside drains through a particular process. As a result, the waste is reportedly decomposing and producing a strong foul smell. Residents claim that the situation has created an unhygienic environment in the Kating Pahar area, making it difficult for people to breathe comfortably.

What makes the situation more concerning is the impact of the foul smell on patients visiting the nearby GNRC Hospital and their relatives. Apart from local residents, patients and other visitors to the hospital are also reportedly facing considerable difficulties due to the unpleasant surroundings.

Meanwhile, local residents have alleged that despite bringing the matter to the attention of the Akshaya Patra Foundation authorities, no significant action has been taken so far.

The alleged activities of an institution that works towards public welfare by providing meals to schoolchildren have now sparked resentment among local residents. They have questioned whether people in the area are being forced to endure foul smells and unhygienic conditions in the name of public service.
