Guwahati Murder Case: Accused Ghanakanta Gogoi Remains Uncooperative in Police Custody, Fresh Documents Seized

Accused in the Guwahati Hotel Bilas Inn murder case, Ghanakanta Gogoi, is reportedly behaving unusually in police custody. Sources said he refuses to eat even when food is offered and does not respond properly when questioned by investigators. Police are examining whether his behaviour is genuine distress or an attempt to mislead the investigation.

During a search of his rented accommodation in Saukuchi, the investigating team recovered several documents related to loans and businesses taken on lease. However, the key to his luxury Harrier SUV was not found at the house. Gogoi has reportedly refused to disclose where he kept the key.

Police are planning to use a crane to tow the vehicle from the rented premises. Meanwhile, the camera-fitted spectacles allegedly recovered during the investigation have been sent for forensic examination.

Investigators have also found that Gogoi had launched a news portal named GK News. He allegedly employed several people but failed to pay their salaries. The portal was later shut down, and Gogoi reportedly disappeared. After launching the portal, he had also put a ‘PRESS’ sticker on his vehicle. His Harrier SUV, parked at the Saukuchi rented house, also bears the ‘PRESS’ marking.

The police are continuing their investigation to establish the full extent of Gogoi’s activities and verify the documents recovered during the search.
