Delhi-based Mendro Corporation Private Limited accused of fraud; police bring two persons to Dispur Police Station following complaint.
Fifteen Assamese entrepreneurs have allegedly been cheated in connection with work assigned for the ‘Silpa Samagam Mela’ held at Khanapara in Guwahati. A Delhi-based firm, Mendro Corporation Private Limited, has come under scrutiny following allegations of financial fraud.
According to the allegations, the company had secured contracts for various works at the event, including the construction and decoration of stalls and other arrangements. The firm, reportedly led by Jitendra Kumar, assigned responsibilities for different works to 15 Assamese entrepreneurs.
The entrepreneurs allegedly paid advance amounts to undertake the assigned work. However, Jitendra Kumar and his associate Abhijit allegedly left before the conclusion of the fair, leaving the entrepreneurs concerned about their pending payments.
With no immediate resolution in sight, the affected entrepreneurs approached Dispur Police Station and lodged a complaint. Following the complaint, Jitendra Kumar and Abhijit were reportedly brought to Dispur Police Station in connection with the matter.
The entrepreneurs are now worried about whether they will recover the outstanding amounts owed to them. The incident has also raised concerns over financial transactions and contractual arrangements associated with the event.
The Silpa Samagam Mela, organised by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, commenced on October 22. Further details are expected to emerge as the police look into the allegations.
