Dispur Police Seize Heroin Worth ₹8 Crore, Arrest Couple in Guwahati

In a major crackdown on the drug trade, Dispur Police have seized 1.056 kg of heroin worth approximately ₹8 crore in the international market and arrested a couple in connection with the case.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sanjib Roy alias Munna and his wife, Nitumi Medhi. The couple was reportedly apprehended along with a vehicle in the Supermarket area of Guwahati.

Following their arrest, police conducted a raid at their rented house in Kahilipara, where they recovered drugs concealed in 95 soap boxes.

During the operation, the police also seized a .32-calibre pistol along with six live rounds of ammunition, a note-counting machine, two four-wheelers and a motorcycle.

The seizure points to a potentially extensive drug network operating in the city. Dispur Police have launched a further investigation to trace the network and identify other individuals involved in the alleged drug trafficking operation.
