“We Are Done”: Ukraine to Resume Strikes on Russian Oil Refineries, Says Zelensky

9

Ukraine will resume drone strikes on Russian oil refineries after accusing Moscow of violating a proposed energy ceasefire by continuing attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and civilians, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the Financial Times.

Zelenskyy said he had ordered a three-day pause in strikes on Russian refineries in response to US President Donald Trump’s request. However, he claimed Russia continued its attacks during the pause, prompting Kyiv to lift the restrictions.

“The block [on attacking refineries] is out. We’re done,” Zelenskyy told the Financial Times.

The Ukrainian President also criticised Washington’s reported eagerness to pursue business deals with Russia, particularly in the energy sector. He expressed concern over reduced US intelligence support and disruptions to Starlink satellite communications in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, global oil markets remain under pressure amid concerns over fuel supplies and rising diesel prices. Reports that Trump was considering easing sanctions on oil tankers linked to Russia, Iran and Venezuela also influenced market sentiment, with crude oil prices falling around 1% in Asian trading on Thursday.
