As part of the nation’s Independence Day celebrations, the Indian Air Force (IAF) Band will host a special musical performance today, August 9, at the Public Plaza, Param Yodha Sthal, located within the National War Memorial in New Delhi.
Scheduled from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the one-hour event aims to foster national pride and engage the public through a curated selection of patriotic and soulful compositions. This year’s performance carries special significance, as it also commemorates the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song, ‘Vande Mataram.’
The 40-member ensemble features:
- 32 Airmen
- 8 Agniveervayu (including three women)
The band will perform under the direction of Principal Conductor Master Warrant Officer A. Srihari, assisted by Junior Warrant Officers Moon Deka and Abhishek Paul, alongside Sergeant N.T. Singh.
Organized as part of the IAF’s broader public outreach initiatives, the concert offers visitors an opportunity to experience the military musical traditions of the Air Force while honoring the nation’s heritage at one of its most prominent memorial sites.
