Senior Congress leader and General Secretary of the Indian National Congress, Jitendra Singh, has resigned from the post of in-charge (observer) of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.
According to sources, Jitendra Singh took this decision after being deeply disheartened by the party’s poor performance in the recently concluded Assam Legislative Assembly Elections.
In his resignation, he accepted moral responsibility for the electoral setback. He also expressed gratitude to the people of Assam for the support extended to the Congress party during the polls.
This development comes as a significant fallout following the Congress party’s disappointing show in the Assam elections.
