The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has announced significant changes in the evaluation and result declaration system for the Higher Secondary (HS) examinations, effective from the 2027 academic session.
According to the new rules, students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in each subject to pass the HS examination.
Key highlights of the new guidelines:
- Vocational Stream will be conducted for the last time this year.
- From the next academic year, the categories of Institutional Private (I.P.) and Non-Institutional Private (N.I.P.) will be discontinued. All students will have to appear as regular candidates.
- Re-evaluation of answer scripts will begin two days from now.
- A special examination will be held in 2027.
- If a student fails in more than two subjects, they will have to take fresh admission.
- Students must pass in a minimum of six subjects.
This major reform is aimed at improving the quality of education and ensuring stricter academic standards in the Higher Secondary level.
