India will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with Ahmedabad being the host city. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He expressed that it is not only a “proud moment” for both India and Gujarat, the host state.
“India will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad – a proud moment for Bharat and Gujarat,” Jaishankar wrote on X.
He stressed, “It is a testament to PM Narendra Modi’s vision of world-class infrastructure and nurturing sporting talent.”
Earlier, Commonwealth Sport, in a statement, recommended Ahmedabad – Gujarat’s largest city – as the “proposed host”. The 2030 Commonwealth Games will mark the 100th anniversary of the first edition, which took place in Hamilton, Canada, in 1930.
