In a horrific incident, around 60 people were killed and many others sustained severe injuries in a militia attack in Eastern Congo on Wednesday morning. The horrendous incident occurred at a displaced persons’ camp in Ituri province of the country.
According to various reports, the CODECO fighters are responsible for the killings. CODECO is one of an array of militias operating in eastern Congo amid longstanding tensions over land and resources. Its fighters have killed hundreds of civilians in Ituri and forced thousands to flee their homes
