58 Killed in Gaza as Israel Intensifies Strikes, Eyes Ground Offensive

At least 58 Palestinians were killed in overnight Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, according to local health authorities on Saturday, as Israel prepares for what appears to be a broader ground incursion into the besieged enclave.

Since Thursday, more than 300 people have died in Israeli attacks, marking one of the deadliest episodes since the collapse of the ceasefire in March. The renewed bombardment came just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump concluded a Middle East tour on Friday, which yielded no breakthrough toward halting the violence.

“Since midnight, we have received 58 martyrs, while many more victims are still trapped under the rubble. The hospital is overwhelmed, and the conditions are catastrophic,” said Marwan Al-Sultan, director of the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza.

The Israeli military confirmed on Saturday that it is carrying out “intensive strikes” and mobilizing additional troops as part of its broader strategy to gain “operational control” within the Gaza Strip. The military build-up includes armoured units positioned near the border in what analysts believe may signal the beginning of a wider ground invasion.

These actions are part of “Operation Gideon’s Wagons”, which Israel says is focused on dismantling Hamas and securing the release of hostages held within Gaza.

The situation on the ground continues to deteriorate, with fears growing over the mounting civilian toll and worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
