In a swift operation, Noonmati Police have arrested five members of a kidnapping gang who had abducted two youths from Mathgharia area.
The victims have been identified as Sanidul Ali, an Uber driver, and his friend Imdadul Ali. The duo was allegedly lured by the kidnappers on the pretext of renting a car. They were taken to Sonatali jungle in Boko, tied up, and held captive.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₹1 lakh from Sanidul Ali’s elder brother and threatened to kill both victims if the money was not paid. The brother immediately approached Noonmati Police, leading to a rescue operation.
Police successfully rescued the two victims from the jungle and arrested the five accused. The arrested persons are:
- Abu Jubair Akand
- Sajid Ali
- Haidar Ali
- Rakib Al Amin
- Nur Islam
This incident has once again highlighted the rising cases of abduction in the city. Investigation is ongoing to determine if the gang was involved in other similar crimes.
