17th Asia Cup Cricket Begins Today
The Asia Cup 2025 will begin on Tueday (September 9) in the United Arab Emirates and, for the first time in history, will feature eight teams in the T20 format, serving as crucial preparation for the T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament, which returns to the shorter format after the 2022 edition, will conclude with the final on September 28.
India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, while Salman Ali Agha will captain Pakistan, Charith Asalanka will lead Sri Lanka, Rashid Khan will take charge of Afghanistan, and Litton Das will captain Bangladesh. Hosts UAE, along with Hong Kong and Oman, complete the lineup, making this the first-ever Asia Cup with eight competing nations.
The opening match will be played between Afghanistan and Hong Kong on September 9, setting the stage for an action-packed tournament full of excitement, rivalries, and high-stakes cricket.
