The 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 was successfully observed at the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, officers, and staff, fostering a spirit of wellness and collective harmony. The celebration was organised by the Sports Forum, USTM, in alignment with the global theme “Yoga for Healthy Living.”
The yoga session was virtually led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, whose address inspired participants to adopt yoga as a way of life for better physical, mental, and emotional well-being, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to holistic health.
Adding special significance to the occasion, renowned young yoga achiever Gauranga Hazarika, a distinguished yoga practitioner who has brought laurels at the national and international level, notably securing accolades at the 2nd Commonwealth Cup, visited the USTM campus as the Guest Yoga Demonstrator. His live yoga demonstration captivated the audience and motivated participants to embrace discipline, balance, and mindfulness through regular yogic practice.

The event concluded on a high note, with participants expressing renewed commitment towards healthy living through yoga. The celebration reflected USTM’s continuous efforts to promote wellness, discipline, and holistic development within the university community.
