The 12th Convocation Ceremony of Assam down town University was a momentous occasion marked by pride, reflection, and inspiration. The event was graced by the presence of Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Assam, who was warmly welcomed by Chancellor Dr. N. N. Dutta and Vice Chancellor Prof. N. C. Talukdar. To commemorate the day, the Governor planted a sapling on campus—symbolizing growth, sustainability, and the nurturing of young minds.

The ceremony began with the traditional Academic Procession, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem and the Assam State Anthem. The Governor formally declared the convocation open, setting the tone for a day of celebration and recognition.
In his Welcome Address, the university leadership reflected on AdtU’s transformative journey and reaffirmed its dedication to preparing future-ready graduates. The Vice Chancellor presented the annual report, highlighting significant achievements in academics, research, innovation, and institutional collaborations over the past year.

A major highlight of the convocation was the conferment of honorary degrees. Padma Shri Dr. Randeep Guleria, Former Director of AIIMS New Delhi and current President of AIIMS Bilaspur, received the Doctor of Science (D.Sc. Honoris Causa) for his exceptional contributions to healthcare and medical research. Dr. Sri Sri Pitambar Dev Goswami, the 16th Satradhikar of Sri Sri Auniati Satra, was awarded the Doctor of Letters (D.Litt. Honoris Causa) in recognition of his work in preserving and promoting spiritual and cultural heritage.
Degrees were then formally awarded to graduating students across various faculties, including Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate programs, marking the successful completion of their academic journeys.
The university also recognized outstanding student achievements. Gold Medals were awarded to Ms. Punam Kumari (Best Postgraduate, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science), Mr. Krishna Kumar Bharti (Best Undergraduate, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science), and Ms. Nafisa Rahman Choudhuri (Best Placement Achiever, Faculty of Commerce and Management). The AdtU Alumni Award for Inspiring Achievement was presented to Ms. Leimapokpam Ranjita Devi, reflecting the university’s commitment to nurturing excellence beyond the classroom.
A poignant moment during the event was the administering of the Oath of Dedication by the Best Postgraduate Student of the 2024–25 batch, reaffirming values of integrity, service, and responsibility among the graduating class.
In his address, Governor Acharya congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to apply their knowledge and skills to build a better future for society and the nation. He emphasized the importance of resilience, compassion, and innovation in today’s rapidly evolving world.

The convocation concluded with the signing of the Convocation Book, a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, and the National Anthem, closing a day filled with celebration, inspiration, and a sense of new beginnings.
