In wake of the ongoing controversy regarding Chinese Tennis player Peng Shuai, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) suspended all its tournaments in China. The tennis player had accused an ex-government official of sexual assault. Peng Shuai posted about the incident on social media on November 2nd and then disappeared from public view for weeks.

The CEO of WTA in a statement said “While we now know where Peng is, I have serious doubts that she is free, safe, and not subject to censorship, coercion, and intimidation.”
