Woman Cries for 3 Hours After Passenger Refuses to Give Up Her Seat

7

A 10-hour flight, a request to sit beside her husband, and three hours of alleged crying! A travel story shared by Tomiko Harvey has sparked a debate on social media over airplane seat etiquette.

Harvey, a creative travel director, was flying home from Kazakhstan on Turkish Airlines after the death of her father. During her connecting flight from Istanbul to Washington, DC, a woman asked her to give up her aisle seat so she could sit next to her husband for the long journey. Harvey refused.

According to Harvey, the woman cried for nearly three hours, explaining that she missed her husband and wanted to rest her head on his shoulder.

Meanwhile, the woman’s husband was reportedly sitting two rows ahead in a middle seat, wearing headphones and sleeping peacefully throughout the flight.

After landing, Harvey sarcastically remarked, “Good job. Look at you surviving without your husband for 10 hours.”

The incident has triggered mixed reactions online. While some users have supported Harvey’s decision to keep her assigned seat, others have criticised her final comment as unnecessarily harsh, arguing that she did not know the couple’s full circumstances.

There is also no confirmed information about how the couple’s seats were originally allocated.

What would you have done? Would you have given up your aisle seat so the couple could sit together, or stayed in your assigned seat?
