With the swearing-in ceremony of the new Assam government scheduled for 12th May, the Guwahati administration has announced strict traffic regulations to ensure smooth movement and security.
In a joint press conference, the Guwahati Commissioner and DCP (Traffic) issued the following instructions:
- The road from Koinadhara to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport will remain completely closed from 9 AM to 2 PM.
- Only one lane will be operational from Koinadhara to Jalukbari AEC Point.
- Heavy vehicles such as trucks, dumpers, and hydras will not be allowed on this route.
- Commuters are advised to use GS Road instead of the National Highway.
- Passengers travelling to the airport are requested to leave at least two hours early.
- One lane will be kept reserved for emergency vehicles.
- No parking will be allowed on the service lane of National Highway-27.
- There will be no parking arrangements along Bhangagarh, Panjabari, Six Mile, and Khanapara roads.
- Parking facilities have been arranged at Sarusajai, Basistha Road, and Shahid Nyas Road for vehicles attending the swearing-in ceremony.
The administration has appealed to the public to cooperate with the traffic police and follow the guidelines to avoid inconvenience during the high-security event.
