Redefining Policing Standards in Assam | What did CM Sarma say during conference with OCs of all Police Stations of Assam

Guwahati, July 5 (NKTV): A first of its kind conference – Redefining Policing Standards in Assam – was organised today for the Officers-in-Charge of all Police Stations across Assam under the chairmanship of Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

During the conference, the CM talked about improving policing standards in Assam and put out the following points:

➡️The Office-in-Charge (OC) shall be responsible for the cases of the Station or Outpost
➡️The OC shall establish a good relation with all the staff members of the Station or Outpost
➡️The OC of a Station or Outpost shall be replaced after every two years, depending upon performance
➡️Assam Police will be established as a Professional Organisation. Evil and Police can never be on the same side.
➡️Corruption means Compromise on the side of the OC
➡️When public know something, it can never be the case that the Police did not know
➡️The OC’s duty is not to please senior officials
➡️Only one notebook shall be maintained regarding goods recovered
➡️The law permits to shoot in the leg, I support that
➡️Pending cases have been increasing. After six months, all rape cases and arms related cases have to be solved and closed
➡️We need to continue the War on Drugs and put an end to this evil. The performance has been good in the last 45 days
➡️Miscreants have to tremble after hearing the name of the OC
➡️Working in the Police Department does not mean releasing fatigue taking the aid of alcohol
➡️Prepare charge sheets for rape, murder and drugs cases; do not let SP, DIG sleep
➡️After six months, there should be no pending cases
➡️There should not be cow-related cases
➡️Do not have tea from anyone; rather, treat people with a cup of tea
➡️Do not delay Passport Verification process if there are no issues
➡️Every Police Station will receive a vehicle within the next three months
➡️The Police too needs sources; we shall allot an amount for the same
➡️An amount of Rs 2.5 lakh shall be allotted for fuel and other expenses
➡️Three computers shall be provided to all stations
➡️If there is adequate land, quarters shall be constructed for the OC and four Sub Inspectors
➡️All Police Stations shall be provided with generators
➡️All constables will be entitled to 7-8 medical check ups at the nearest hospital, including private hospital in absence of a government hospital. We will look into providing the financial assistance
➡️No need to sacrifice sleep waiting for trucks; divide the work in shifts so that health is not hampered
➡️Everyone should be equal in front of the law
➡️No point in talking about transfer or promotion with me or the DGP
