Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal officially launched a newly developed integrated web portal to offer online services by municipal bodies in the state. The launch took place at his office in Janata Bhawan.
The portal, accessible at https://assamurban.in/, will aggregate the entire database of all verticals of the Housing and Urban Affairs Department and all municipal bodies in the state. It serves as a unified platform for the public to access departmental services online. Portal benefits include online property tax payment, instant trade license approval, e-services like drinking water supply connection requests, theater and playground bookings, film shooting, and GPS tracking of municipal vehicles, as well as online complaint filing and resolution mechanisms.
The portal provides detailed descriptions of municipal bodies, including maps and demographics, information about mayor/chairpersons and ward members, assets, program activities, tender details, and more.
During the launch, Minister Singhal encouraged everyone to utilize the integrated portal for accessing all Housing and Urban Affairs Department services online. He emphasized that this initiative is crucial for eliminating bureaucratic obstacles and enabling people to avail services from their homes, aligning with Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma’s directive.
The launch event saw the presence of Commissioner-Secretary, Housing and Urban Affairs Kavitha Padmanabhan, Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation Meghnidhi Dahal, Director of Municipal Administration Tankeshwar Das, and other top officials from the department.
