Guwahati, August 06 (NKTV): Star footballer Lionel Messi has parted his way from FC Barcelona after contract talks failed between the club and footballer. Lionel Messi will end his 20-year career with Barcelona and now be looking to don with new colours in Europe.
Lionel Messi signed his contract with Barcelona back in 2000 when he was just 13, has been a free agent since June 30 when his old agreement expired. The superstar footballer played 788 games for the club.
In a statement released by the club they said “Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations).
As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.”
