Japanese Prime Minister to Visit Guwahati for High-Level Talks with PM Modi on Indo-Pacific Cooperation and Act East Policy
The first three days of July will be of special significance for the entire state of Assam as Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will camp in Guwahati for these three days, during which a crucial bilateral summit with the Japanese Prime Minister will take place in the city.
The two leaders are expected to hold detailed discussions on infrastructure development, Indo-Pacific cooperation, and the effective implementation of India’s Act East Policy. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is also likely to be present during the high-level meetings.
The Assam Government has swung into war-footing preparations to warmly welcome the Japanese dignitary. The entire city of Guwahati is being given a fresh, vibrant look with intensive cleaning drives and beautification works that are continuing day and night.
The Japanese Prime Minister is also expected to participate in a programme at the historic Lachit Ghat. There is a strong possibility that she will take a boat ride on the mighty Brahmaputra River from the ghat.
This high-profile visit is being seen as a major diplomatic event that will further strengthen India-Japan ties and highlight Assam’s growing importance on the global stage under the Act East Policy.
