Following recent hoax bomb threats that targeted over 250 schools in the Delhi-NCR region, security forces have intensified preparedness through mock drills at various key locations across the city, including schools, airports, metro stations, and government buildings, officials said.

On Saturday, the Delhi Police and National Security Guard (NSG) conducted a drill at Delhi Public School in RK Puram. Both male and female personnel participated, with NSG vehicles and buses on site to test emergency response capabilities.

The mock exercises have expanded beyond schools to other critical locations. On Friday, the NSG and Delhi Police held a drill at Parliament House, emphasizing security at high-profile government sites.

Drills also took place near Delhi’s Jhandewalan Temple and at Hyderabad House, the State Guest House used for meetings with foreign dignitaries, underscoring a comprehensive approach.

Another exercise was carried out at Indira Gandhi International Airport. “Different agencies are coordinating and checking their drills,” said DCP Usha Rangnani, ensuring seamless response during emergencies.

The public transportation system was not excluded, with a significant drill conducted at the busy Rajiv Chowk metro station.

Earlier on May 2, Delhi Police urged people not to believe rumors and stop spreading fake news after false messages circulated about bombs detected in schools.

“We have to become responsible citizens and should not forward any unverified information on social media. I request everyone not to believe in rumours and stop spreading fake news. We will take strict action against those who spread fake news,” Delhi Police PRO Suman Nalwa said.

Nalwa detailed that over 250 calls were received by police on Wednesday regarding the bomb threats. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a statement saying the email “appeared to be a hoax.”
