Guwahati Students Shine In CBSE Far East Zone Taekwondo Championship

Bringing accolades, Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati students shines again in a sporting event – CBSE Far East Zone Taekwondo Championship. The championship took from 16 to 18 October, 2023. Modern English School, Kahilipara students who showed their mettle in different sporting categories in the CBSE Far East Zone Taekwondo Championship. In the Taekwondo competition, Krish Pawe won gold medal in under 17 years boys below 51 kg; Raksha Boruah won silver medal in under 17 years girls below 55 kg; Garima Das won silver medal in under 17 years girls below 52 kg; Kaadambaree Das won bronze medal in under 14 years girls below 37 kg and Debobrat Patir got bronze medal in under 19 years boys below 68 kg category. Among the winners Krish Pawe, Raksha Boruah and Garima Das selected for upcoming National tournament.

In the Yoga competition, Nandika Hazra of class 4, Tina Kalita of class 5 and Srimanti Paul and Ayushi Das of class 6 were first runner-up and will be participating at the National level championship. In the shooting competition (10 mm air pistol), Angel Mahanta of class 10 won 2nd position and will be participating at the National level championship. In athletics competition, Akash Kalita of class 8 won gold medal in 100 m and 200 m race and will also be participating at the National level championship.
Students who won bronze medals in under 14 girls’ category are Ishanvi Saikia, class 6; Khushi Jaiswal, class 8, Bairavi Boro, class 5 and Sharmistha Saha, class 8. They will not be participating at the National level championship.

Modern English School, Kahilipara has always been a torch bearer when it comes to the overall development of the students including physical activities and sports. For physical development of the students the school also launched their MES Sports Academies- Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Football, Taekwondo and Yoga on 17 June 2023.

Abhijit Gogoi, PGT-Physical Education and Taekwondo Coach, Modern English School, Kahilipara said, “We are excited to see our students getting recognition not on in the state but also out of the state and at national level. We congratulate the winners for their hard work and wish all the best to Krish Pawe, Raksha Boruah and Garima Das for making it to the national level championship.”
