Guwahati: Shocking Escort Racket Busted by City Police

In a shocking revelation, Guwahati Police have busted a well-organized escort racket operating in the city that was allegedly targeting young women who came to Guwahati for studies.

The police arrested three accused — Abhiranjan Das, Priyanka Roy, and Minakshi Roy — for running the racket. According to police, the gang used to lure young girls by offering fake job opportunities through OLX. Later, the victims were subjected to physical and mental torture and forced into the escort service.

One of the victims was allegedly impregnated by the accused and forced to undergo an abortion. Priyanka Roy is reported to be the girlfriend of Abhiranjan Das, while Minakshi Roy is his wife. The couple, along with the girlfriend, allegedly trapped innocent girls into this illegal network.

Abhiranjan Das, the mastermind, used to communicate with clients through WhatsApp and physically exploited the victims. He was arrested from Dispur along with the two women.

A case has been registered at the Cyber Police Station (Case No. 7/26). The entire racket came to light after a brave victim came forward with her complaint.

Police investigations are ongoing to identify more victims and possible accomplices.
